Technician careers in Georgia, answered.

What people ask before picking a field.

Which technician career pays the most in Georgia?

Of the four manufacturing roles we track, instrumentation and control pays the most: a $78,070 Georgia median, about $17,000 a year more than maintenance. For the other fields, see the national pay on each field card.

Do I need a degree to become a technician?

Usually not. Most roles start with a technical college certificate or diploma, and you can add a degree later while you earn.

Is technician training free in Georgia?

Many programs are. Eighteen technical programs qualify for the HOPE Career Grant at Georgia technical colleges, including Industrial Maintenance and Precision Manufacturing.

Can I switch technician fields later?

Yes. Troubleshooting, electrical basics and safety carry across fields, and maintenance in particular leads into robotics, controls, hydraulics and more.

Will automation replace technician jobs?

So far it has done the opposite. Every robot on a floor needs a person who can install it, program it and fix it.
