What "tuition-free" means, precisely.
The HOPE Grant and HOPE Career Grant together cover tuition for listed programs at participating colleges. Students still pay fees and any required equipment, and eligibility rules apply. Self-paced online courses are not free. We won't tell you a course costs nothing when it does.

Before and after one course
Illustrative example, not live data.
A higher match score means you fit the role better on paper. It does not guarantee an interview, and it does not guarantee a hire. If a course would move you from 70% to 74%, we'll say that too, and you can decide it isn't worth it.
3 minto a match score against real Georgia openings
Starting is easy. Finishing is what we're here for.
The hard part of training is rarely the material. It's the login that won't work, the week that got away, the question with nobody to ask. That's the part we handle.
1
Before you start
- Pick the right program. Someone walks through your options and matches courses to the role you're after.
- Get in without the runaround. Registration, account setup and course access, handled with you.
2
While you're in it
- One person, by name. A direct contact for every question, start to finish. No ticket queue.
- A plan that fits your life. A success coach helps you build a schedule around work and family.
- If you go quiet, we notice. Haven't started or stalled out? We reach out before you fall behind.
- Stuck on something technical? Course access, LMS issues and assessments, fixed fast.
3
When you finish
- Proof you can show. We track your completion and help you document the skills you've earned.
- Know what it's worth. We connect your new skills to your current role, the next rung up, and the pathways beyond it.
If your employer is sponsoring your training, they see your enrollment, progress and completion. That's not a report card. It's how the support you need gets noticed and lined up.
Money that might cover this. Emphasis on might.
Eligibility varies by program, income, residency and college. We list what exists and link you to the rules. We don't tell you you've got it.

What counts as a technician
"A technician is a skilled worker who helps turn technology, infrastructure, and equipment into operating capacity. Technicians install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test, calibrate, and improve the systems modern industry depends on."
National Reference Guide for Technician Careers
Technician-adjacent roles work closely alongside technicians without being one: technical sales, project management, a service advisor, a parts specialist. Those programs are listed too, and labeled.
Technician training in Georgia, answered.
What people ask before they sign up.
Is technician training free in Georgia?
For some programs, tuition is. The HOPE Grant and HOPE Career Grant together cover tuition for 18 listed programs at 22 Georgia technical colleges, if you meet the eligibility rules. Fees and required equipment are extra, and self-paced online courses are paid.
How long does technician training take?
It depends on the field and the route. A technical college program runs on semesters, a self-paced online course can start the same day, and an apprenticeship combines paid work with training.
Can I train online?
Yes, for many skills. Self-paced online courses start any day and are best for closing one specific gap. Hands-on fields usually also need lab or on-the-job practice.
Does a higher match score mean I'll get hired?
No. It means you fit the role better on paper. It does not guarantee an interview or a hire, and if a course barely moves your score, you'll see that too.
What is a technician-adjacent job?
A role that works closely with technicians without being one, such as technical sales, project management, service advising or parts. Those programs are listed and labeled.
